Social Media for Crisis Communications in Government
As a deliverable for a grant from the National Center for Food Protection and Defense, Dr. Shari Veil and fellow researcher Dr. Michael Palenchar from the University of Tennessee will be presenting at the Social Media for Crisis Communications in Government Conference in Washington D.C. November 2-5, 2009. The presentation is entitled How to Overcome Constraints and Take Advantage of the Social Media Opportunities in Risk and Crisis Communication.
National Communication Association Preconference
The Center for Risk and Crisis Management is sponsoring the preconference Exploring Stability and Change at the Intersection of Risk and Crisis Communication: Theoretical and Research Convergence at the upcoming National Communication Association Conference November 11-16, 2009 in Chicago, IL.
Southern Regional Food Protection Conference
Dr. Veil will be conducting media training at the upcoming Southern Regional Food Protection Conference sponsored by the Extension Disaster Education Network November 18-19, 2009 in Lexington, KY.
Graduate Certificate in Risk and Crisis Management
The Graduate Certificate in Risk and Crisis Management was approved by the Oklahoma Board of Regents over the summer. The first cohort can enroll as early as Spring 2010. Click on the Graduate Certificate Program link to learn more.
