Graduate Certificate in Risk and Crisis Management
Professionals from a variety of backgrounds require advanced education in risk assessment, emergency planning, crisis communication, and continuity planning to address the evolving challenges of community and organizational risks and crises.
The Graduate Certificate in Risk and Crisis Management takes a multidisciplinary approach to address this need while allowing students the opportunity to tailor their education and understanding of risk and crisis management through classes that fit their specialty and their schedule.
The three core courses (Risk Assessment, Crisis Communication, and Risk and Crisis Management Capstone) use both online and classroom resources during hours that will accommodate most students working full-time.
Students also choose two supporting electives in areas of interest such as Negotiation and Leadership, Regulatory Policy, Conflict Management, and Corporate Environmental Management. Supporting colleges and departments include Communication, Knowledge Management, Journalism, Public Relations, Geography, Education, Engineering, Human Relations, Finance, Management, and Management Information Systems.
The Graduate Certificate in Risk and Crisis Management is an accelerated program. A goal timeline would be for those enrolled to complete the required 15 credit hours in one year to eighteen months.
